European Approach
In order to simplify the accreditation of study programmes offered by two or more higher education institutions in the European Higher Education Area, the "European Approach for Quality Assurance of ‘Joint Programmes’" was launched in 2015. This is now - at least partly - applicable in 30 countries of the European Higher Education Area. A uniform procedure and uniform quality standards were developed that are acknowledged in all participating countries.
Detailed information on the European Approach can be found on the EQAR website: https://www.eqar.eu/kb/joint-programmes/.
Accreditation of Joint Programmes
ZEvA offers the accreditation of Joint Programmes according to the European Approach. Therefore, a programme accreditation procedure is carried out for the entire study programme on the basis of special procedural rules and quality standards. Accreditation is granted by decision of the ZEvA Commission. The ZEvA accreditation decision can subsequently be acknowledged by the responsible bodies in the participating countries (e.g. German Accreditation Council).
Please note: In Germany, the European Approach is so far only possible for programmes that conclude with a Joint Degree.
Procedure
The following diagram shows an exemplary procedure. The time schedule may vary from case to case and can be adapted to fit the needs of the higher education institution and the procedure.
