FORUM Entry into STEM Studies
Final conference on the evaluation of the flexible study entry phase in MINT degree programmes
On 5 and 6 September 2022, ZEvA and the Clausthal University of Technology held the “FORUM Studieneinstieg MINT” conference.
At this conference, the results of the "Evaluation of the flexible study entry phase in MINT study programmes at universities in Lower Saxony", which ZEvA carried out at six universities in Lower Saxony in 2021 and 2022 on behalf of the State University Conference of Lower Saxony, were presented and discussed. In addition, the general topic of study success and dropout was also included, as the study entry phase can only be considered against this background. The current experience with the effects of the Corona pandemic was also highlighted in several short presentations.
The HEIs involved in the evaluation process were able to present their programmes in a poster session and use the opportunity to exchange and network with each other and with other HEIs. Finally, in small working groups and in a panel discussion, it was discussed how the design of the study entry phase can have an impact on study success in the future - not only in STEM study programmes, but in all undergraduate higher education.
