The System Accreditation Commission (KSA) is a commission of ZEvA whose work is based on the current resolutions of the Accreditation Council regarding system accreditation. The commission assembles peer groups for system accreditation and the selection of random samples and appoints a chairperson for each peer group. In its selection of reviewers the commission follows the suggestions of the ZEvA project officers. Based on the results of a preliminary assessment, the commission decides on the admission of a higher education institution for system accreditation. Based on the contents of the peer group report, the KSA finally makes a recommendation regarding the accreditation decision to the Standing Accreditation Commission (SAK).
The KSA consists of 8 members with full voting rights: one student, one quality assurance expert, two representatives of a university or an equivalent higher education institution, two representatives of a university of applied sciences and two representatives of professional practice.
As a general rule, all members of the KSA possess profound experience in higher education management and quality assurance. They are elected by the Standing Accreditation Commission of ZEvA (SAK) on the basis of suggestions by the Board of Directors. The members of the commission work in an honorary capacity and are not bound to directives. The Managing Director and the Academic Director of ZEvA act as advisory members of the KSA. All members of the commission are elected for three years.
