The Standing Accreditation Commission (SAK)

The Standing Accreditation Commission (SAK) is a commission of ZEvA whose work is based on current resolutions of the Accreditation Council regarding program and system accreditation. The members of the SAK decide on internal guidelines for the implementation of these resolutions. Furthermore, the commission (or, in some cases, those of its members who are the most competent on a particular subject) appoints peers for the accreditation of study programs on the basis of recommendations by the ZEvA project officers. All final accreditation decisions are made by the SAK. In accordance with ZEvA’s procedural guidelines for system accreditation (which, in turn, aim at putting the resolutions of the Accreditation Council into practice), the SAK also forms the “System Accreditation Commission” (KSA). The members of this commission are suggested by the ZEvA Board of Directors and appointed by the SAK. The KSA has ultimate authority for all decisions concerning system accreditation.

The Standing Accreditation Commission consists of the following 26 members:

  • the Academic Director of ZEvA as chair,

  • five representatives of the main areas of study and research at universities or equivalent institutions (Humanities and Cultural Studies; Mathematics and Sciences; Engineering; Law, Economics and Social Sciences; Life Sciences including Medicine) and five deputies,

  • three representatives of the main areas of study at universities of applied sciences (Economics and Social Studies; Engineering and Architecture; Natural Sciences/Life Sciences) and three deputies,

  • one representative of the field of Arts and Music, as well as two deputies (one from each subject area),

  • 2 professionals representing the respective interests of employers and employees, as well as two deputies,

  • two student representatives; one from a university or an equivalent higher education institution and one from a university of applied sciences.
